The journey starts at the historic depot in Blue Ridge, Georgia, where passengers ride a four-hour 26-mile round trip train ride along the Toccoa River through rural North Georgia. The first leg of the excursion travels passengers one hour to the quaint sister towns of McCaysville, Georgia, and Copperhill, Tennessee. During a two-hour stopover, passengers may visit the area's attractions before taking the one-hour return journey through picturesque woods and back to Blue Ridge Depot in Georgia. This is a great place to visit if you're an animal lover. Build an Ark is an animal rescue and hospice housing a variety of animals including sheep, goats, donkeys, horses, ducks, and pigs as well as dogs, cats, and other incredible creatures. All visitors have the opportunity to interact with these wonderful animals by feeding and helping care for them. Discover each animal, its upkeep, and the fascinating tales that brought them to the Ark. Build an Ark Animal Rescue is run on donations, so your contribution supports the animals at the Ark as well as student field trips, nursing home visits, and special events throughout Georgia.

Project Chimps, Morganton

Project Chimps, the newest chimpanzee sanctuary in the United States, was established to give lifelong care to 200 former research chimps on 236 acres of wooded reserve in north Georgia's Blue Ridge Mountains.
